Dorking Houses Parks Gardens

House, Parks and Gardens

The picturesque landscape of the Surrey Hills and its proximity to London provided a perfect location for the wealthy gentleman’s country house. A number of wonderful houses were built in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, making the most of the glorious views and creating their own gardens and parklands.

For a different garden experience, the sculpture garden of Hannah Peschar is a very special place where art and nature combine to create a garden of particular beauty.

Meadowbank park includes a playground that has a range of features for kids of all ages and physical abilities to enjoy set around a theme that incorporates local landmarks. The park is also home to the Dorking football ground, indoor soft play area and cafe.

Several of the best houses are owned by the National Trust and open to the public. Each one is a day out in itself, providing a perfect mixture of architecture, countryside, gardens, history and good food in the cafes and restaurants.
