Dorking-Market

Traditional Friday Market

Throughout the medieval period to the present day, the town has provided a focus for trade and commerce. A large corn and cattle market was once a feature of the High Street.  A poultry market was held in South Street where the famous ‘Dorking’ fowl were sold.  The irregular medieval streets and lanes radiating from Pump Corner, that are such a pleasure to walk today, reflect the traditions of trading and service to generations of visitors.

St Martins Walk – every Friday 08.30am – 2.00pm

Dorking’s traditional market has been running for over 700 years. Modern traffic needs have moved the market from the High Street to its present location behind St Martin’s Church in the main St Martins Walk car park, every Friday from 8.30am to 2.00pm.

The Dorking market offers a range of goods which include fresh flowers and plants, fresh fish, confectionery, household goods and one of the best fruit and vegetable stalls in the South East.
